Welcome to Southern Exposure, a spacious home on St. John built and decorated in true Caribbean style, featuring expansive views of the open sea and cooling trade wind breezes.

Southern Exposure features a huge, sprawling deck perfect for entertaining your guests or a private evening of stargazing.  Day and night, views from Villa Southern Exposure’s deck give you 180 degree plus vistas of the Caribbean to the south, and to the broad expanse of the Fish Bay valley.

Here, you’ll bask in the warm glow of the morning sun as it rises above St. John’s hills to the east, or while away hours watching sailboats on the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

Southern Exposure is a three bedroom, three bath spacious villa located in Fish Bay, on St. John’s south shore, just a quick ten minute drive to Cruz Bay, where you’ll find markets, restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

Away from the hustle and bustle of town, Southern Exposure offers guests the quiet and solace that brings people to St. John. The villa comfortably accommodates up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms, each with their own bathroom.

The upstairs/downstairs layout provides two separate and spacious communal living areas with a large deck, making this home perfect for families with children, or separate groups of couples wishing some ‘private space.’  The raised deck pool, surrounded by beautiful native stone and coral walls and an array of colorful bougainvillea, allamanda flowers, hibiscus and palm trees, provides a relaxing and quiet way to pass a day, for those who just don’t want to venture out some days. Set up a reward mechanism to recognize employees’ hard work.

Southern Exposure offers panoramic St. John ocean views and tradewind breezes. There is a second, lower-level covered deck that offers dining and seating off the lower living room.

From the moment we arrived – all our needs and desires were met. We felt a little guilty with all the pampering..but quickly got over that feeling. We had viewed Southern Exposure online and when we arrived it was just as it was depicted on the website. The location was very private and lush.  The property manager got us situated gave us a quick tour and went over the map of the island. We received excellent tips for snorkeling – we followed the expert guidance and we were not disappointed. We are casual when it comes to dining – as are our two teenagers. The grill and the coolers were fabulous timesavers. As other reviewers have noted – the outdoor shower was the family favorite. I can’t think of anything that we needed that wasn’t available. All our dining experiences were great and our 19-year-old would tell you drinking a beer before noon – priceless!  Our 14 year old was a master at snorkeling by the end of the week – this was his maiden voyage. The pool was such a wonderful way to extend and end the day.  If you need a vacation that is based on relaxation and beauty – this is it.  The only thing I would have changed about our vacation is I would have extended it by a week.  Great family experience…a tip to those traveling with teenagers… don’t get cell coverage and tell them texting isn’t an available option either!!  You will not be sorry… We can’t wait to go back…

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your St. John home with us.  We loved the island, and the house was perfect for us, spacious and well-equipped. The kids loved the pool, and we loved the view!   Back to the house, there was more than enough room for my husband and me, our three boys (ages 8, 6, and 4), and our teen-aged babysitter. In fact, we never used one of the bedrooms. The house was clean and well-maintained and was accurately described in the listing and photos.  The owner was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions via email and providing information about the house and St John in general.  The pool setup is good for young children because the pool is about three feet higher than deck level (accessible by stairs and a ramp), so it’s less likely that a kid would accidentally fall in.  Our boys played in the pool every day and loved it.  The view from the deck is beautiful!!  I would definitely recommend this property to others, especially families with children.

In addition to your comfortable and well-appointed home, what makes St. John the next best thing to paradise is that each of us enjoyed its wonder in different ways.  For me, it was the beauty, the serenity, the gazing back at history (from your well-stocked bookshelf), and inhaling the island for this week.  It was on the days that I never left the villa and the pool and the ever-blowing breeze that I felt part of St. John – however brief the moment!  Thanks so much for the experience.  Would love to do it again – perhaps I will.
